Roof Deck Classes Are Back On The Schedule

Yo Yoga!’s class schedule has been updated to include this year’s roof deck classes. As is the custom, we schedule them before the weather is really ready to accomodate us, that way the first time there’s a truly nice day, BOOM, we toss you outside like a parent whose pale and pasty child has been playing too much XBox…or Nintendo, or whatever the indoor-kids play with these days.

Below we’ve listed the roof deck rules to help you determine whether your preferred class will be inside or out in these early spring days.

-Roof deck classes are held in temperatures 68 degrees and higher. Otherwise class is held indoors. We use weather.com for the temp.

-When it rains classes are held indoors.

-Don’t pick the flowers.

-Sometimes there is a random reason class isn’t held on the deck even when it’s scheduled to be out there. Maybe there’s construction on the building next door that’s too loud, or killer bees are on the loose — it can be anything. These things just happen, so if you get here for an outdoor class and it has to be inside please try to be cool about it and just go with the flow. We’re not doing it on purpose.

Spring Renewal – Melt away winter tension, Restorative Yoga with Alie Flynt

Spring is the perfect time to focus on cleansing and rejuvenation. We have the
opportunity to start anew, let go of the winter blues, and bloom into our full potential. In
2 hours of juicy restorative yoga, we’ll detoxify the body and mind with supported poses
and breathing practices to stimulate digestion, cleanse the internal organs, and release
winter congestion.

This special class led by Alie Flynt will begin with a sequence of gentle, grounding yoga,
before moving on to the restorative, long-held postures. Supported and passive yoga
postures allow the body to naturally release and to let go of deeply held tension and
stress, which in turn helps to replenish the nervous system, regulate the body’s natural
functions, get rid of toxins, and renew a sense of calm and balance to your entire being

Leave feeling rested, rejuvenated, lighter, and calmer, so that you can take advantage
of the longer days ahead. Join Alie and set yourself up for a more spirited Spring!

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk
it took to blossom.” Anais Nin

Yo Yoga! Wants a New Roof Deck

We love our outdoor space, and the astroturf that’s been covering the roof for the last two years has served us well, but we’re ready to move on.

That’s why Yo Yoga! has teamed up with LuckyAnt to raise $8,500 to even out the roof and lay down a proper deck. LuckyAnt is a crowd-funding site dedicated to local businesses. Visit our project page on their site (we’ve embedded links all over this post . Here’s one more: LuckyAnt) to find greatly discounted prices on Yo Yoga! class packages. This is a great opportunity to save some money on your next class pack. There are also discounted beginner packages that we’re offering here for the first time. So if you have a friend or family member you’ve been trying to drag to yoga with you, this is one more branch hacked off their tree of excuses.

So help our campaign, save some money, and let’s get a great new deck in time for spring. Go to LuckyAnt to learn more about our project and see a short video of us trying to act professional while we describe it.

Joy and Peace – Holiday Restorative Yoga Workshop with Alie Flynt

December snuck up on us this year, and the Holiday season is now in full swing. With all of the joyful celebration that the season of giving brings, there is also an equal amount of added stress and tension to the body and mind. As we increase our social engagements and workload, we also deplete our energy reserves. Our digestive system gets bombarded with all sorts of holiday treats, and things can start to feel a little out of whack. It is essential that we replenish ourselves during this busy time of year, and give our body and mind an opportunity to pause, exhale and savor our surroundings. Restorative yoga is the perfect opportunity to de-stress and detoxify your December, and to prepare you for the busyness that lies ahead.

This special candlelit class will begin with a sequence of gentle, grounding yoga, before moving on to the supported, long-held postures. Supported and passive yoga postures allow the body to naturally release and to let go of deeply held tension and stress, which in turn helps to replenish the nervous system, regulate the body’s natural functions, get rid of toxins, and renew a sense of calm and balance to your entire being. Even those with an active yoga practice will benefit from the inner quietude and deep release of Restorative Yoga. It is appropriate for anyone, at any age or stage of life, or in any physical condition. Come immerse yourself in this peaceful practice and give yourself the gift of relaxation and rejuvenation this holiday season.
